On the morning of May 7, a brand new convenience police car debuted at the Cuihu National Urban Wetland Park in Haidian District of Beijing, marking the opening of the first mobile forest police station in Beijing.

The mobile police station where three policemen and five or six security guards are on duty 24 hours a day can quickly move anytime and anywhere once summoned so as to crack down on illegal poaching and protect the safety of migratory birds and surrounding birds.

Unlike the common mobile police stations in the city proper, the police car is known as a “migratory bird protection aircraft carrier” by the police, as it is equipped with diesel generators for field operations, mobile generators for recharging anytime and anywhere, and bird-rescuing facilities like bird cages and rescue boxes. The car is also covered by a 4G network, enabling a quick and smooth video transmission with the back office.

“This mobile police station can serve the areas within three to five kilometers, including ponds, forest gardens and artificial forests. It shortens our action time from 25 minutes to 10 minutes,” said Yan Yan, director of the Fenghuangling Forest Police Station of Haidian District.

He introduced that the mobile police station will be stationed at the Cuihu Wetland to protect migratory birds during their migration period from every March to early June and September to November, and in the winter, it will be used for forest fire prevention in mountainous areas.
