Winter Olympics branch metro line to open by end of 2021

The construction of the western section of Beijing metro Line 11, also known as “Winter Olympics branch metro line”, will officially start in the first half of 2019, and the branch metro line is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2021, according its first environmental impact assessment report published on March 20, 2019.

In the report, the 3.6 km branch metro line will go all underground and have four stations, namely Jinding Jie Station, Jin’an Qiao Station, Beixin’an Lu Station and Shougang Station.

In the long term, Beijing metro Line 11 is designed to be another east-west line to go through the blank area which Line 14 and the southern section of Line 10 bypass and undertake the task of linking two major transportation hubs of Lize Business District and Beijing West Railway Station.

As the fourth rail transit line in Shijingshan District, the line will not only serve the 2022 Winter Olympics, but also facilitate the travel of citizens in western Beijing.
