Beijing will newly add 31 urban parks, 50 pockets parks and small & micro green lands as well as 283 kilometers’ fitness greenway in 2019, according to the city’s gardening and greening work meeting held on Wednesday.
By the end of 2019, the city’s 500-meter service radius of parks or green lands will increase to 83 percent and enable more citizens to get access to green land within 500 meters from their houses.
This year, Beijing will newly afforest 250,000 mu(about 16,666 hectares) and green 600 hectares urban green land.
The city’s forest coverage rate will amount to 44 percent, the afforestation coverage rate 48.46 percent and per capita public green land 16.4 square meters.
This year, the construction of eight forest parks will start, which include Hexin Forest Park in Changping district, Chaonan Forest Park in Chaoyang district.
The construction of Chaoyang Heiqiao Park, Jinzhan Forest Park and other country park will continue to be advanced.
The number of parks in the first green separation areas will total to 99.
The first green separation areas refer to the space between Beijing’s central areas and the margin areas, with a total area of 310 square kilometers.
It involves six districts: Haidian district, Chaoyang district, Fengtai district, Shijingshan district, Changping district and Daxing district.
