The 2017 Beijing Physical Examination Statistical Report shows 38.47 percent of adult residents in Beijing are overweight.
The report released on December 5 this year is based on physical exam data of more than 4.33 million Beijing residents in 2017.
It is found out that 25.32 percent examinees are overweight, another 13.15 percent are obese.
Experts said in analysis that rates of overweight and obesity grow with age, and reach their peaks of 34.33 percent and 17.71 percent at the ages between 60 and 69. They also noticed that overweight and obesity see a growing trend in younger population. The two rates among crowds that age from 18 to 29 reach 15.62 percent and 8.25 percent in Beijing.
