It is estimated that Beijing’s all public transport vehicles will use new energy and clean energy by 2020, with half of the bus capacity to be electric driven, according to the 2018 annual meeting of Urban Passenger Transport Branch, China Road Transport Association.
Xu Zhengxiang an official of Beijing Public Transport Group(BPTG) said the electric drive vehicles’ proportion will reach 90 percent of new vehicles to be purchased in 2018 and 2019, amid the Group’s vigorously advancing the development of vehicles driven by new energy and clean energy.
It is estimated that Beijing’s electric drive vehicles’ capacity will surpass 11,000 by 2020, accounting for over 50 percent of the city’s total bus number.
As of the end of 2020, the electric drive vehicles will take 100 percent in the city’s main urban area and its sub-center.
As of the end of 2017, BPTG had had over 30,000 registered vehicles in operation and more than 1,200 routine operation routes, which has played an important role in Beijing’s urban public transport development.
