The first batch of 22 volunteers for Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games have engaged in voluntary service, according to a symposium “Carrying forward volunteerism and contributing to Beijing 2022 Olympics” held on the morning of October 10, 2018.
The 22 volunteers stationed at the Beijing Organizing Committee for 2022 Olympics (Beijing Organizing Committee) have started voluntary service in its 13 departments, said Han Zirong, secretary general of Beijing Organizing Committee on the symposium.
Beijing Organizing Committee will work out a general plan of voluntary service, take the note of needs in hosting the Games and make overall layout for works of Games volunteers, city volunteers and social volunteers.
Beijing Organizing Committee, along with related single-event associations and other social organizations and universities and colleges, will accomplish the recruitment and training of professional volunteers, attracting volunteers from Hong Kong, Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan as well as volunteers of overseas Chinese to join in, do well in publicizing and motivating of volunteers and draw extensively people from all sectors of society to Beijing 2022 Winter Games voluntary service.
The total number of Beijing’s volunteers registered by real names has exceeded four million, with over 61,000 registered voluntary organizations, according to Li Jian, deputy secretary of the Beijing Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
