During the past seven-day National Day holiday, totally 113 “most beautiful villages of Beijing” attracted nearly one million visitors and received 56 million yuan(about eight million U.S. dollars) in revenue, with both of them increasing over 20 percent year-on-year, according to Beijing Municipal Commission of Rural Affairs(BMCRA).
By collating and analyzing the reception data of the seven days, it shows the most popular villages are those with a beautiful ecological environment, special experience activities, better accommodation conditions and distinctive peasant meals.
In addition, the 30 “special activities of Beijing villages” and 40 “leisure places of Beijing villages” promoted by BMCRA also contributed to the rising number of visitors to a certain extent.
It is learnt that the “most beautiful villages of Beijing” campaign starting in 2006 has selected 113 villages so far. It was held annually from 2006 to 2011 and it has been held biennially since 2011.
