This year, Beijing railways are expected to send 11.68 million passengers (1.17 million on average per day), an increase of 199,000 by 1.7 percent year on year, during the National Day golden week from September 28 to October 7, China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd. said on September 25, 2018.
During the holiday, the number of medium- and long-distance passengers mainly departing for Harbin, Shenyang, Qingdao, Dalian, Xi’an, Wuhan, Nanchang and Shanghai is expected to be 5.04 million, an increase of 45,000 people by 0.9 percent from the same period last year, while the number of short-distance passengers mainly departing for Tangshan, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Qinhuangdao and Handan is expected to be 6.64 million, an increase of 155,000 by 2.4 percent over the same period last year.
The peak day will fall on October 1, during which 1.43 million passengers will be sent, an increase of 47,000 by 3.4 percent year on year.
Beijing’s three major railway stations are expected to send 5.14 million passengers, including 1.37 million passengers at Beijing Railway Station, a year-on-year increase of 0.7 percent and with 172,000 passengers to be sent on the peak day on October 1, 1.97 million passengers at Beijing West Railway Station, a year-on-year increase of 3 percent and with 235,000 passengers to be sent on the peak day on October 1, and 1.8 million passengers at Beijing South Railway Station, a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent and with 212,000 passengers to be sent on the peak day on October 1.
In order to facilitate passengers’ travel during the National Day golden week, Beijing railways are expected to add 23 pairs of temporary trains, including eight pairs of high-speed trains and bullet trains bound for Qiqihar South, Qinhuangdao, Dezhou and other railway stations.
Meanwhile, measures like running more trains and reconnecting bullet trains will also be taken to increase the capacity of transportation so as to meet passengers’ travel demand to the utmost extent.
In addition, from September 28 to October 7, as many as 13 pairs of S2 trains will run every day to meet the needs of the citizens who travel to the Great Wall to enjoy golden autumn.
