An environmental protection promotion campaign on the theme of “Zero waste during festival in 2018” was launched to be conducted at Tian’anmen Square, Great Wall Scenic Spot, Xishan Cultural Belt, Great Wall Cultural Belt and eastern Grand Canal Cultural Belt in Beijing by Beijing Charity Volunteer Federation during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday.
The campaign aims to promote environmental protection awareness and green and civilized travel concept among visitors at key scenic spots and three cultural belts and call on more citizens to protect the environment.
The campaign puts forward the slogans of “I volunteer to join in the ‘Zero waste during festival’ campaign” and “I promise not to be a waste maker”, aiming to encourage all citizens and visitors in Beijing not to throw waste and make Beijing into a tidy, clean and beautiful capital.
During the campaign, volunteers from all walks of life in the capital throw themselves into the work of helping staff members at scenic areas to dispose waste and pick up the waste and publicizing the importance and necessity of environmental protection to tourists. They also guide tourists to travel in a civilized way and stop uncivilized behaviors such as destroying cultural relics and throwing waste everywhere.
It is learned that during the two festivals, the campaign will be participated by more than 11,000 volunteers to provide more than 50,000 hours of services. The campaign is expected to provide voluntary assistance, counseling and instruction services for more than 600,000 visitors and attract more than seven million people to participate in.
