Beijing has built and upgraded totally 1,215 business sites for residents’ convenience in the first eight months of 2018, accounting for 86.8 percent of the total task of 2018, according to Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce.
Residents in 1818 Block of Huilongguan, Changping district of Beijing felt that the problem of buying vegetables has been solved this year.
Early this year, a box-styled vegetable shop appeared on the vacant lot in the community. There was also a container-styled smart convenience store which was operated 24 hours a day.
From January to August in 2018, a total of 44 business sites for resident convenience have been built and upgraded in Huilongguan and Tiantongyuan areas, including 20 vegetable retail sites, which accounted for nearly half of the total newly added vegetable shops in Changping district.
Besides the newly added vegetable shops, people can buy the daily vegetables and fruits from more channels. Ms Yang working near Shimaotianjie (the Place), said, convenience stores seldom sold vegetables or fruits before.
However, nowadays, convenient stores near her office set up a special zone for vegetables and fruits. “It is convenient for me to buy some vegetables and fruits after working time. The prices are not very high,” she said.
Statistics shows Beijing has built and upgraded 450 sites with function of vegetable retail, including 394 independent vegetable selling sites and 56 ones which have been attached to convenience stores, comprehensive supermarkets and business complexes.
In 2018, Beijing plans to build or improve over 1,400 business sites for resident convenience, including more than 500 vegetable selling sites.
