The first batch of 20 postal outlets in six central districts of Beijing will be the proper channels for residents to dispose 35 kinds of electronic waste of small kitchen, household, personal life and digital appliances, Beijing Post announced at its volunteer theme post office at Fatou on September 9, the Public Welfare Day.
Nowadays, improper disposal of electronic waste has become one of the major pollutants to the city’s environment. Apart from offering the new environmental-friendly convenience service, Beijing Post also launched an initiative to call on the whole society not to pollute the environment with electronic waste.
The electronic waste collected at postal outlets will all go through standardized environmental-friendly treatment and the general public is welcome to supervise and participate in the whole process.
In addition, people who turn electronic waste over to the 20 postal outlets in September can exchange the waste for fine postal products.
