The number of Chinese tourists to Africa has posted a huge increase recently as the just concluded FOCAC 2018 Beijing Summit makes many African tourist destinations a hit.

According to many travel agencies, some hot African tourist products for the upcoming National Day Holiday have already been sold out.

“Africa usually embraces a travel rush of Chinese tourists during the summer holiday and the National Day Holiday every year. As most of African countries’ temperatures are around 25℃ in July and August, compared with the high temperature of summer in China, their pleasant weather makes them fit for spending the summer,” introduced Zhou Qingling, a head of Lvmama, a travel website.

For the upcoming National Day Holiday, many Chinese tourists choose to go on holiday in Africa. According to data of Tongchenglvyou, an online travel service provider, the number of tourists of African tourist products for the holiday marks a significant rise compared with the previous year. Some hot African tourist products had already been sold out at the end of July.

“The number of tourists to Africa so far has increased by 10 to 15 percent compared with last year,” said Li Mengran, a head of market department, Zhongxinlvyou, a travel service website.

While the rising trend is much clearer at Lvmama, the tourists’ number going to Africa by Lvmama platform has doubled year-on-year in the first eight months of 2018.

According to the outbound travel data of Ctrip, a travel service platform, their tourists volume going to Africa had grown about 40 percent year-on-year in the first seven months; What’s more, the orders of air ticket to Africa made in August increased four times than that of last year.

Among Chinese tourists’ top ten destinations of outbound travel in 2018, African countries account for 30 percent according to data of China Youth Travel Service.

Actually, the increase in tourists going to Africa has been a trend in recent years. The data released by World Tourism Organization shows that, the number of Chinese tourists to Africa accounted for only three percent in 2008, while the ratio had risen to ten percent in 2016, with the tourists volume of 11.3 million people.

The ever growing Chinese tourists to Africa are directly attributed to the convenient visa policies implemented by China and African countries.

African countries have carried out more convenient visa policies for Chinese visitors in recent years.

In 2018 alone, three African countries have implemented the arrival visa policies for Chinese visitors.

So far, totally 19 African countries have provided visa-free service or arrival visa to Chinese visitors.
