Beijing subway has seen an average daily passenger flow of over 11.6 million, and several interchange stations will soon be transformed to meet the increasing passenger flow.
The connection project of subway Line 1 and Batong Line is now awaiting approval and after the completion of the project, passengers will no longer need to transfer between Line 1 and Batong Line at Sihui Station.
Meanwhile, the Batong Line is transforming its signal system so that the line is expected to further shorten its interval time in the near future.
Other interchange stations to be transformed are Shaoyaoju and Guomao stations, where a new interchange overpass will be built between the exit and entry of two lines. Shaoyaoju Station will transform its hall, platforms and exits and entries while Guomao Station will build a new interchange hall and add or transform seven interchange channels, which will be completed by 2021.
In addition, the airport express will be extended west to the Beixinqiao Station, where passengers can transfer to Line 5.
