Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway greeted its tenth anniversary of operation on August 1, 2018 and it has transported totally 250 million passengers in the past ten years.
From August 1, 2018 on, the Fuxing bullet train, or Rejuvenation, entirely designed and manufactured in China, would run on this line and will speed up to 350 kilometers per hour from August 8.
Since its operation, the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway’s passenger volume has been increasing year by year, from 14.56 million in 2009 to 22.78 million in 2012 and the daily average of passengers was 82,000 in the first half of 2018, which is far more than the annual daily average 49,000 passengers in 2008, introduced Liang Zhaoyu, the spokesperson to the Beijing South Station.
Liang said, the quick, safe and comfortable high-speed railway has deeply changed the work and life of both Beijing and Tianjin’s residents as the passengers are mainly for businesses, traveling and visiting relatives.
Tianjin’s Wuqing district has benefited from the open of the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway as its economic volume increased to 116.1 billion yuan(17 billion U.S. dollars) in 2017 from 16.5 billion yuan in 2007.
Wuqing district’s Wuqing Station is one of the Intercity Railway’s stations; its passenger volume has grown from 366 in 2008 to over 10,000 so far and the trains that pass or stop at the station has been increased from eight pairs to 23 pairs.
It is learnt that Wuqing district received 4.2 million tourists in 2012 while the number had risen to 18.8 million by the end of 2017. Wuqing’s revenue from tourism industry had grown from less than 100 million yuan to 9 billion yuan.
Besides, taking the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway as a start, Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Guangzhou, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao, Tianjin-Baoding, Shijiazhuang-Ji’nan and other high-speed railways have made a high-speed railway network and forged a “high-speed railway economic circle” within 30 to 60 minutes, which makes a transport guarantee for the integral development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei province.
