Beijing Subway will offer charge pals to passengers in urgent need in the near future and it will build a certain number of self-help charging facilities at stations in the future.
The number of passengers has exceeded one million per day since QR code scanning ride was allowed at all subway stations in Beijing on April 29, 2018.
With the surging number of passengers who take subway via scanning QR code on phone, more and more passengers encounter the power off problem when scanning QR code to exit a station.
To address the problem, each subway station will soon be equipped with at least two charging pals and build a certain number of self-help charging facilities in the future.
Next, Beijing Subway will also introduce face recognition technology to develop a new entry and exit way for passengers. At present, the face recognition devices are under testing and the recognition level is waiting to be tested.
“Though the face recognition technology has been maturely applied in other fields, it still needs to be improved as it will face a big challenge of recognizing large and complex populations at subway stations,” an official from Beijing Subway said.
