The 10th Chinese Rose Cultural Festival kicked off in Beijing on May 11 and it will last until June 15.
During the festival, nearly ten million Chinese roses of 2,300 varieties will be in full bloom, dressing Beijing up to greet the upcoming beautiful summer.
This year, the festival will set up 12 major exhibition areas, including Beijing Flower World, Beijing Botanical Garden, Temple of Heaven Park, Taoranting Park, Beijing Nabobay Horticulture Co., Ltd., Miyun Caijiawa Rose Love Garden, Beijing International Flower Port, Beijing Garden Expo Park, World Rose Theme Park, Chinese Ancient Rose Cultural Park, Beijing Love Sea Rose Culture Expo Park and Fengtai Garden.
The 12 parks will focus on displaying fine, hybrid and rare Chinese roses, different from the blooming ones on streets.
Various themed activities will be held as well, such as special seminars on rose cultivation and conservation and rose culture and history exhibitions at Beijing Botanical Garden, the “Chinese Roses in Imperial City” exhibition at Temple of Heaven Park, floriculture and horticulture exhibition and handcraft experience activities at Taoranting Park, “Panda Road Run” and “Color Run” activities at Beijing Garden Expo Park and DIY activities at Miyun Caijiawa Rose Love Garden.
Initiated in 2009, the Beijing-based Chinese rose cultural festival has developed the number of exhibited roses to more than 10 million of 2,300 varieties now from 1.5 million of 1,000 varieties at the very beginning.
