The 107th International Nurses Day falls on May 12, 2018. This year, the celebration theme is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health is a Human right”.

Nowadays, the nursing profession is no longer dominated by the female; more and more male nurses are emerging and playing an important role.

Guo Yuebin, 25 years old, is such a male nurse. Guo, together with other eight male nurses, works at the operating room of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital. Their work is to cooperate with doctors of different departments to finish operations.

Guo said, “Male nurses have more advantages than female ones in time-consuming operations and often undertake more work, as men have better physical power and endurance. Though the work is hard, we’ve also got a lot of sense of achievement.”
