A public lecture on asthma with the theme of “Breathe Easy” was held on April 28 at Beijing United Family Hospital(BJU), Chaoyang district, before the 20th World Asthma Day, which falls on May 1, 2018.
Asthma is a common chronic disease among children who are prone to asthma attacks in spring because of allergy and environment factors.
To alleviate children’s suffering, BJU has set up a children asthma outpatient service recently to provide a long term, standard and individualized treatment solution.
“Asthma is preventable and treatable,” said Zhang Jiao, a doctor of pediatric department, BJU. Patients and parents must believe in that.
While, it needs a long term and systematic treatment, and joint efforts of both doctor and parents.
The treatment solution includes three aspects, drug therapy, desensitization therapy as well as family management.
BJU hopes to have interaction with patients’ parents, and assist them in strengthening their family management to make a sound environment for patients.
Asthma is a chronic disease of the air passages (or bronchial) that lead to and from the lungs that makes breathing difficult.
Its symptoms include breathlessness, coughing, wheezing and a feeling of tightness in the chest.
According to World Health Organization estimates, 300 million people suffer from asthma.
