On April 24, an outstanding collectives and individuals awarding ceremony and a voluntary haircut campaign were launched by the federation of trade union of Dongcheng District of Beijing to celebrate the upcoming International Labor Day on May 1, 2018.

The voluntary haircut campaign will last five months and during the period, outdoor workers can enjoy free haircut services at voluntary haircut sites in 17 subdistricts of Dongcheng District on the first Monday of each month.

At the voluntary haircut site of Dongzhimen Subdistrict, outdoor workers like sanitation workers, couriers and traffic police waited in line for a haircut. The Dongzhimen Subdistrict organized 10 hairdressers to provide voluntary services, most of whom were born after 1990s.

“We feel happy to give outdoor workers a free haircut. They work so hard that it is meaningful for us to help them,” said a hairdresser surnamed Li.

In addition, during the awarding ceremony, Jin Hui, deputy Party secretary and acting chief of Dongcheng District, acknowledged the district’s 180,000 workers’ efforts in their undertakings. She expressed that labor, knowledge, talents and invention should be respected and workers and the masses should unite and work hard to build Dongcheng into a world-class, harmonious and livable district.
