5th CIFTIS to kick off in May

The 5th China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services(CIFTIS), themed promoting service industry and service trade’s “Open, Innovation and Integration”, is to be held at China National Convention Center, Beijing, China from May 28 to June 1, 2018.

The 5th CIFTIS will hold 125 forums, conferences, negotiation meetings and over ten theme activities including “One Belt, One Road” cooperation forum for service trade and “One Belt, One Road” green technology promotion conference, and a service trade achievements exhibition to mark the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up policy, said Yan Ligang, director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce.

Yan added the 5th CIFTIS will invite international organizations and exhibition companies to hold exhibitions, including its three permanent supporters(World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) and four international cooperation agencies (World Intellectual Property Organization, International Trade Centre, World Trade Point Federation and World Trade Center Association).

At the same time, national ministries and commissions and industry organizations will be invited to make nearly 20 authoritative announcements, including “China Service Trade Development Report” and “China E-commerce Development Report” among others.

Yan said some 60 countries and regions have confirmed to hold exhibits and conferences at the 5th CIFTIS so far, a rise of 26 ones compared with the last fair held in 2016. They also have got the confirmations of attendance from 31 provinces, municipalities and regions nationwide.

CIFTIS centers on 12 large areas of trade in services and is the first comprehensive platform specializing in the trade in services around the world.

CIFTIS is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality.
