Beijing announced the ninth batch of cultural relics protection units’ protection scope and their development control areas on March 6, 2018, which made “guard circles”for 39 cultural relics protection units including 32 newly designated ones and seven upgraded, Beijing Daily reported on Wednesday.
Among the 32 newly designated units, Beijing section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is included. The Grand Canal has over 40 cultural heritages in Beijing, like Tonghui River’s Old Riverway, Jishuitan River and Dongbuyaqiao Bridge relics.
The seven level-up ones are bank architectural complexes of modern times at Xijiaominxiang Alley, Beijing City Wall Relics in Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), the former site of “the Great Strike on February 7, 1923” at Changxindian Town, school architectural complexes of modern times at Tongzhou, the former site of Dabaiyutang quarry at Fangshan and Nankou-Badaling section of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway.
Official of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage noted all districts, departments and units should fully understand the importance of preservation of cultural relics, seriously fulfill the obligations of cultural relics protection in accordance with laws, regulations and stipulations and protect well the golden name card of historical culture by conducting practical and effective measures.
