Quality medical resources of municipal hospitals have covered 14 districts of Beijing so far and by 2020, citizens of all 16 districts are expected to enjoy quality services of municipal hospitals nearby, Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals said recently.
At present, there are 22 tertiary hospitals (nine general hospitals and 13 specialist hospitals) under the governance of Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals.
The 22 hospitals have 30 branches, including 23 ones in downtown areas, accounting for 77 percent, which cover six districts of Dongcheng, Xicheng, Haidian, Chaoyang, Fengtai and Shijingshan, and seven ones in suburban areas, accounting for 23 percent, which cover four districts of Changping, Tongzhou, Shunyi and Daxing.
Apart from the 10 districts directly covered by municipal hospitals, three districts of Huairou, Pinggu and Yanqing have been covered by the district-owned hospitals that are run by the district but administrated by the city or operated under medical cooperation.
In addition, Beijing Cancer Hospital is planning a project in Mentougou District. Therefore, there are only Fangshan and Miyun districts left uncovered by quality medical resources of municipal hospitals.
It is learned that for these two districts, several projects are now under planning and layout like opening branches to expand the coverage of quality medical resources. Currently, the projects’ site selection and planning are under adjustment and improvement.
