Beijing residents spent 952 yuan (151 US dollars) on average on online shopping in 2017, up 16.7 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by National Bureau of Statistics Survey Office in Beijing recently.
The per capita online consumption of urban and rural residents increased 16.8 percent and 15.4 percent respectively, both with double-digit growth rates.
The online consumption is further boosted by both technology upgrade of smart mobile terminal and fast development of Internet industry, as the mobile gets smarter and network speed becomes faster.
Service consumption including information, travelling and entertainment have become new consumption growth points, as household consumption is being transferred from the single demand of material life to diversified service demands, with the improvement of living level.
Beijing residents’ per capita service consumption grew 10.3 percent year-on-year, 9.3 percentages higher than that of goods consumption.
Service consumption accounted for half of the total consumer spending, specifically 52.5 percent.
