Haidian District of Beijing has started the installation of 214 elevators at its old communities in 2017, and in 2018 the district plans to install at least 200 elevators at communities like Erlizhuang Community and communities of Tsinghua University and University of Science & Technology Beijing, according to a press conference of the district on January 11, 2018.
At present, the district has started the 2018 work of installing elevators for old buildings, aiming to install no less than 200 elevators in the district and achieve a full coverage of the elevator-installing project in 29 subdistricts.
Haidian District will continue to investigate the elevator-installing demand of old residential buildings and further promote the installation of elevators for old buildings in 2018, said Wu Xicai, deputy director of social affairs office of Haidian District.
Haidian District fully launched the pilot project of installing elevators for existing multi-storey residential buildings in March, 2017, said Wu. He introduced from August to December of 2017, the district started the construction work of 214 elevators, among which 31 ones had completed installation and passed acceptance check to be ready for use.
