Located in front of the Drum Tower and at the east side of the central axis of Beijing, the No. 70 courtyard of Xin’anli Hutong is a Chinese-Western courtyard with a history of 100 years. There are more than 20 households living at the courtyard, and most of them are old people.

On Dec. 10, the Jiaodaokou Subdistrict and Gulouyuan Community organized volunteers to clean up the courtyard so as to eliminate safety risks and improve the environment. The clean-up work aims to recover the beauty of this century-old courtyard and volunteers’ help brings warmth to elders at the courtyard in winter.
