Beijing’s registered volunteers accounts for 17.11 percent of the whole population, which tops the other cities nationwide, according to the China’s Voluntary Services Development Report(2017) released by China Volunteer Service Federation recently in Beijing.
The national registered volunteers accounted for 2.56 percent of the population by the end of 2016, according to the data of national voluntary service information system.
Ten provinces and municipalities’ ratios of registered volunteers to their residents surpassed the average level, among them, Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai were the top three.
A total of 32.78 million volunteers had registered in the national voluntary service information system by the end of 2016.
It had increased 9.60 million to 42.42 million by June 30, 2017, up 29 percent, within six months.
The volunteers had a wide range of occupations, among which the middle school students had the largest number of 3.20 million by the end of 2016.
Farmer volunteers have the highest growth rate of 72.05 percent in 2017.
