The National Fitness Walking Festival of Xicheng District kicked off in Beijing on November 12, 2017. More than 1,000 citizens participated in the festival and enjoyed beautiful scenery along the five-kilometer-long walking route from Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling to Beihai Park.
Provided with full services, the participants walked quickly along the picturesque waterfront greenways in the Houhai area, crossed the Yindian Bridge, and then arrived at Beihai Park, the existing oldest, most complete and most comprehensive and representative imperial garden. They collected three bracelets with Xicheng characteristics and experienced Xicheng’s unique history and culture along the way.
It is learned that in order to show beautiful scenery of Xicheng District, the district’s sports bureau featured 12 most beautiful walking routes, covering municipal and district’s parks and quality greening projects, such as Beihai Park, Taoranting Park, Temple of Moon Park, Shichahai, Wanshou Park, Xuanwu Park, Riverside Park and Jinzhongdu Park
In the future, Xicheng District will spare no effort to promote the nationwide fitness campaign and improve the public service system construction for national fitness. In particular, it will launch abundant colorful winter sports programs, standardize and vigorously promote a traditional Chinese ice football sports and hold national fitness ice festival activities to create a strong atmosphere for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics.
In addition, it will strengthen the construction of sports facilities and enhance the usage of sports facilities like establishing the Temple of Moon sports service center, planning and preparing to build ice sports venues, and renovating the training hall to build a folk custom stadium with advanced sports facilities.
