The inauguration ceremony of the Belt and Road Agricultural University International Consortium was held at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Agriculture on October 10, 2017.
Initiated by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Agriculture, the consortium aims to be a transnational cross-school collaborative innovation platform to promote innovation research and international cultural exchanges. The first batch of members include 44 domestic and overseas universities from 19 countries like Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Agriculture, Anhui Jianzhu University, Hebei University of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Warsaw University of Technology.
Wang Jianzhong, Communist Party secretary of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Agriculture, expressed that the agricultural talents and cutting-edge technologies will be in great demand as the connectivity in infrastructure is particularly important in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative, so founding this consortium will promote the exchanges and cooperation among the agricultural universities along the Belt and Road and serve for the development and construction of the region along the Belt and Road and Eurasian regions.
Zhang Ailin, secretary-general and the first chairman on duty of the consortium and president of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Agriculture, introduced that in the future, the consortium will establish a sustainable development and management mechanism and an open fund system to advance members to do collaborative innovation research and carry out substantive cooperation in talent training, scientific research, teaching staff construction, campus culture and social services to promote the interdisciplinary integration among universities.
