According to Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Beijing had met the national target of making cross provincial settlement service for medical treatment available by the end of September two months earlier. A total of 676 designated medical institutions in Beijing had finished the integration with the national settlement service system for medical treatment received in a different place at the end of July.
Beijing has offered settlement service for medical treatment received by more than 10,000 patients from outside the city in the past two months, offering an advance of 17,000 yuan ($2,562) for each patient on average.
He Wei, deputy chief of the medicare settlement section for patients from outside Beijing of the city’s human resources and social security bureau, introduced that Beijing receives about half of all the country’s patients seeking for medical treatment outside places where they have their medical insurance and the highest cross-provincial medicare settlement amount in China. An advance as high as 880 million yuan has been funded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Finance for cross-provincial medical treatment, among which Beijing occupies about 150 million yuan.
He said Beijing is the first city in China that had made settlement service for medical treatment received by patients from other places available in all the hospitals with beds. There are 102 are top-rated hospitals as well as health centers in communities and townships among the 676 designated medical institutions. “The medical institutions offering cross provincial settlement services in Beijing are of the largest number and highest level in China.”
