Beijing Children’s Hospital of Capital Medical Hospital has ushered in the summer peak of outpatients and emergency patients, which sees an increase of about five percent.
The increase mainly results from quite a few non-emergency child patients like nearsighted children whose parents chose to take them to see a doctor during the summer vocation instead of the school time, apart from the sick children catching a cold or diarrhea who were blown by air conditioners or overate cold foods and drinks during the recent hot weather in Beijing.
Beijing Children’s Hospital has taken several measures to meet the medical demands during the summer outpatient peak by opening more professional outpatient clinics of obesity, nearsightedness, eczema and angeioma, increasing doctors, streamlining the outpatient process and extend working hours.
The hospital suggests parents try to take their children to visit a nearby medical center for first treatment. In addition, the hospital reminds the parents whose children suffer from common cold and other common diseases to avoid seeing a doctor on Monday or the morning of other working days, and the non-emergency illnesses’ treatment or review are also suggested to avoid the summer peak.
