Beijing Public Transportation Group launched a “buses giving way to zebra crossings” publicity activity on July 10, 2017. Altogether 862 routine bus lines in Beijing will participate in this activity and they will try to yield to the pedestrians on zebra crossings during operation.

During the activity, the key lines, road sections and stops will be supervised by more professional inspection teams and information management tools like the intelligent auxiliary driving warning system, radar speed measurement, GPS positioning system, in-vehicle video surveillance and CAN bus analyzer will be used to strengthen the supervision on safe and civilized driving of drivers and strictly regulate the traffic order at intersections.

Meanwhile, Beijing’s traffic control departments will also focus on punishing willful traffic violations like not giving way to pedestrians on zebra crossings of motor vehicles, running a red light or crossing the line of pedestrians and non-motor vehicles at intersections.

Citizens can give their suggestions and opinions about buses’ safe and civilized driving on the official microblog and WeChat account of Beijing Public Transportation Group or dial the customer service hotline of 96166.
