The 67th Bell and Drum Tower Open Talk activity was held at Fensiting hutong of Andingmen subdistrict of Dongcheng district in Beijing on June 6, 2017. The resident representatives and young volunteers from nine communities gathered to recall the past of hutongs and discuss solutions to the diseases in hutongs like breaching walls for doing business and illegal parking behaviors.
During the activity, Liu Yongxian from Baochaonan community talked about his experience of renovating hutongs. Yang Jin, an urban management and law enforcement team member, introduced the present progress and difficulties in the hutong governance work and he called on the masses to understand and support their work. Feng Bo, deputy director of Andingmen subdistrict office, displayed the effect pictures of renovated hutongs and introduced the initial results in the hutong renovation work. Residents and volunteers also actively gave suggestions or solutions to hutong diseases and an initiative was launched to jointly build a wonderful homeland.
The Bell and Drum Tower Open Talk activity was first launched as a community spirit and civilization publication and education activity by Andingmen subdistrict in 2001. The activity invites experts, scholars, community celebrities and outstanding figures of enterprises as guests to discuss the hot issues concerned by community resident. Now the activity has received more than 100 feedback suggestions and it has won the title of national outstanding moral education activity and Dongcheng district’s outstanding ideological and political work activity.
