The election of people’s congress in districts and townships of Beijing starts on November 15, 2016. As of November 8, a total of 6,623 candidates for the district people’s congress deputies have been elected in 2,264 electoral districts and 15,142 candidates for the township people’s congress deputies have been elected in 5,144 electoral districts. Currently, more than 12,000 polling stations around Beijing have been prepared to ensure a smooth and successful election.

Haidian District, with 1.37 million voters in 240 electoral districts, has increased the number of polling stations to 1,963 and added 1,344 mobile ballot boxes to facilitate voters.

At the B No. 28 Community polling station, the 7th electoral district in Huayuanlu Subdistrict of Haidian District, there are areas of verification, issuing votes, consulting, writing votes, allograph, confidential voting rooms and ballot boxes.

According to Qiu Guoping, director of the B No. 28 Community committee, posters of the four candidates for the district people’s congress deputies have been placed in prominent positions in the community and polling stations and candidates have been introduced clearly through the meeting with voters. On the election day, a total of 20 staffers will be assigned to ensure the smooth progress of the election.

“As of the morning of November 14, a total of 932 voters have received a voter’s card. The voters with the card can go to polling stations to vote from 7:00 to 24:00 on November 15. For those voters having difficulties in walking, we have prepared the mobile ballot boxes,” said Qiu.

In addition, residents who haven’t registered are still allowed to register and vote at polling stations before the deadline.
