1. Weather: haze in first four days and lower temperature in last three days
It is predicted by Beijing Meteorological Service that slight to moderate haze will hit Beijing from the night of October 1 to daytime of October 4 and influenced by cold air temperature in Beijing will drop significantly from October 5 to 7 but visibility will turn better. People going outside had better dress warmly to prevent wind and cold.
2. Make a detour to visit hot scenic spots.
It is predicted that the hottest scenic spots in Beijing during the national day holiday are Tiananmen Square, Beijing WTown, Badaling Great Wall, Fragrant Hills Park and Summer Palace.
Tiananmen: Roads around Tiananmen Square are prone to traffic congestion during the national day holiday, and thus visitors to the square are suggested to take public transport and get off two stations (stops) early due to large passenger flow.
Badaling Great Wall: Beijing-Tibet Expressway and 110 national highway to Badaling Great Wall are liable to traffic jams all day long during the holiday. After the parking lots of Badaling scenic area are fully occupied, the Exit 58 of Beijing-Tibet Expressway will be closed and vehicles need to get off the expressway from Exit 62 and go along Xidong Lu to enter Badaling scenic area.
Beijing WTown: Severe traffic congestion will happen to Beijing-Chengde Expressway and visitors to Beijing WTown are suggested to take Litang Lu-101 national highway.
It is predicted that 11 parks under municipal government in Beijing and the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture will receive 3.6 million visitors and the peak days will appear from October 2 to 4.
3. How to save time when going to and from Beijing by expressway?
The transportation administration department predicts that peak traffic flow out of the capital will appear on the afternoon of September 30, and on the morning of October 1 and 2 and the peak traffic flow into the capital will appear on October 6 and October 7.
Beijing-Tibet Expressway (Changping South toll station - Shuiguan toll station) is subject to traffic congestion from 15:00 to 23:00 on September 30 and from 6:00 to 23:00 on October 1.
Beijing-Chengde Expressway (Wanghe Bridge - Suanzaoling Bridge) is subject to traffic congestion from 14:00 to 19:00 on September 30.
Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway (Yuegezhuang Bridge – Doudian North toll station) is subject to traffic congestion from 19:00 to 23:00 on September 30 and from 6:00 to 14:00 on October 1.
Beijing-Tibet Expressway (Donghuayuan toll station – one kilometer south of Xibozi toll station).
Travelers had better avoid these peak hours or make a detour.
4. Hospital information
It is learned from Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals that the outpatient departments in some hospitals under municipal government like Beijing Children’s Hospital and Jishuitan Hospital open all day as usual, most hospitals like Tongren Hospital and Xuanwu Hospital will close in the first three days or open half day during the national day holiday, but all the emergency departments are open around the clock during the holiday.
5. Tips for train travel
Beijing railway police reminds train passengers that besides common contraband like butane gas tank, articles that may cause harm to other passengers like knives and axes are also forbidden to take on train according to the new security check rules. The volume of other gas tanks like hair spray, pesticide and air freshener permitted to be taken on train has been reduced from 600 ml to 120 ml, and the number of lighters permitted to be taken has been reduced from five to two.
6. Be alert to false “one-day tour” bus stop boards.
It is learned from recent investigations that most of the false “one-day tour” bus stop boards are distributed within the 4th Ring. Beijing Municipal Bureau of City Administration and Law Enforcement warns that neither Beijing Hub of Tour Dispatch nor Beijing Public Transportation Group publishes tour information on bus stop boards and tourists should be alert to false “one-day tour” bus stop boards and not be misled by them.
